Looking for some motivation ... Jamie McDonald (Adventureman) is currently 186 marathons into his run around the US. (having previously run across Canada). Today he was sporting his Float Your Fanny toque, which we gave to him at the start of this challenge when he visited Port Hope. Perfect as today was also the longest day of the challenge so far, 75 miles in one run. If you are inspired and motivated by this amazing challenge, please share and donate to help sick kids hospitals through his charity.

Adventureman
24 MARATHONS TO GO (out of 210) 🇺🇸🏃🏻 Now, I know what the eagle eyed among you are thinking, hasn’t he jumped 3 marathons ahead? Well, yes. I achieved the biggest run of my life, over 75 miles, or 3 marathons in one go. It broke me, but I did it. I ran for around 20 hours, pushing big boy Ceasar, only stopping for any length of time to try and warm my hands up, when flagged down by the sheriffs - you might enjoy that 😂, when I got a flat tyre and when I met this amazing man called Phil. You’ll see. Here’s a 6 minute video diary that includes..🎥 😋 Eating snot (sorry mum!) 💛 crossing into Virginia 😢 Cold hands and flat tyre disasters 👨 the most content man on the planet 💪 Conquering the ‘pain cave’ 🏃🏻 3 marathons in one go As I said, I need to keep pushing to make my fundraising schedule, which made me hit the longest run of my life. So go on, get the popcorn on, click the video for sound, sit back and enjoy another look at what it’s like to run across America. 🛋🍿 And if you’d like to donate to help improve the lives of sick kids, please do, it’s what it’s all about. Donate here: https://www.superherofoundation.org/donate/ Please do keep sharing the journey too, it makes such a difference! Thank you, everybody.

Did you know??

When the Float your Fanny race began in the 80’s, the finish line was much farther south. The racers exited the river downtown and portaged up the Main Street for post race celebrations.

This throwback from 1983 is a real gem showing an amazing crazy craft and a nostalgia-inducing Walton Street.

Are you getting excited? Sketching ideas? Making team lists?

It’s coming!... do you dare FYF in 2019?

The flood was a crazy thing. My cousin was moving from Bewdley to that island in the swamp. We were pulling his belongings across Rice Lake swamp using a canoe, and we kept falling through the ice. We rented a van from Port Hope that weekend and when we went to return the van and pickup our car, it was parked only a few feet from the bridge on Ontario Street across from the Ganaraska Hotel in that parking lot on the north side right at the river's edge. The car was flooded - water literally pouring from inside the car. A man was trying to walk across the flooded bridge and ignored our shouts (if he could even hear us). There was a pair of ladies underwear dangling from a lamp post beside Sears (I know right?!). Water was so bitter cold and moving incredibly fast. It was horrifying to see the raging river, as it was before that time our greatest joy in Port Hope - as kids, in the summertime, we'd go to the wreckers and dump to find used inner tubes. The tractor inner tubes were the best. We'd load up on our inner tubes, and about 10 of us would race down the river from the factory all the way down to KFC area. Our fannies were floating down the Ganny 43 years ago. And still 'till today, fannies continue to float down the Ganny. Having been there before the flood, during the flood, and at the races over the years, I hope to continue the tradition and share the fun side of it with my family too. See you at the races.

Why did they take the excitement and celebrations away from the downtown? I just noticed that people didn’t really hit Walton street after the event last year? We have this amazing vibrant downtown with so many places. Would be nice to kick it back old school!

James Menzies Jamie Adams Tevin Guthrie and jay - should we make a float guys?

Advice for those in the race: Wear a wet suit.

It sure is Brookes Marie Brown

#bringitback

Years ago they were more creative.. nowadays they're just wanting to get to the end (I know it's a race and we always go) but would be nice to see that creativity again.. do something funny for the kids or interesting, different, cool!! Do they still have prizes for creativity? If not, they should bring it back, make it worthwhile

Johnny Stinson!!!

Diane Marie Nisbett isn’t that your dads place in the background

The local businesses made fun trophies to hand out at the awards too when it first started. I recall making them for the Ganaraska Hotel for several years or so!

Love the ganny Rae

Oh i remember

In our first of a series celebrating our 2018 award winners, the VIKINGS!

With a time of 1:04 the Canton Vikings blew the competition away as the fastest crazy craft.

Congrats Vikings! Can’t wait to see you next year.

The Float your Fanny team would like to thank everyone who participated in Saturday’s event. The spectators, the amazing volunteers, the sponsors and the brave, on-the-river paddlers. It was a really great day and the smiles and positivity are so appreciated.

We’re already discussing 2019. We can’t wait to see you back at the Ganaraska river for another edition of this Port Hope tradition.

It's unfortunate that entrants aren't more aware of material to use in construction and that crafts really don't need loose props or items on board that could float away. To all those cleaning up thank you!

Great Job and Than you All for a FANTASTIC EVENT.

So your gonna wait to clean? It’s going to flow down stream into the lake by the time you get to it!

ThAnk you for all your time putting this together and cleaning up!!! You are all awesome!!!

Thank you for the clean up!

Thank you !!!

Wait you throw a event in the river then want tjanks for trying to clean up after yourself? ... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Not everything washes down the river into the lake. Stuff gets caught in back eddies, caught on branches, grasses along banks. Even doing the preliminary run last week before the race, we picked up some things.

Did you happen to find 2 bucket hats? We lost them in a treee and would like that back lol

Awesome job! I wish someone would do this at the Oshawa creek!

I will buy that foam if it's available

THANK YOU 🙏🏻💕☀️

There was a paddle and a whole craft down closer to Benjamin Moore yesterday we saw incase you hadn't seen those
